An interesting thing we don't know yet: what the next form factor is for computers after phones. Watches? Glasses? Earbuds? Rings?

We don't even know for sure that there will be a single answer.

We don't care about 'computers'. We care about screens. So the question is really - what's the next screen shape/position?

All of the above working together seemlessly. Shoes, belt, the nodes in the immediate area, etc.

For conspicuous consumption to work, branded computer tech still needs to be visible to others, at least through augmented reality icons.

I would discount everything that doesn't use hands. Hands are the highest bandwidth & precision output channel humans have.

Totally agree with this way of thinking. Bandwidth depends, though? Yes for e.g. targeting a point. Not for inputting language.

I type faster than speak & you can use shortcuts, macros, go meta ... + speaking is ephemeral & linear while typing adds spatiality.

I'm talking about an average person. And speech can easily hit 200wpm, nobody types that fast.

Glasses could have worked if not for the neo-Luddites who assaulted their wearers. Earpieces at present occupy a middle ground.
