From what one reads in the press, everyone seems to be pessimistic about France, including even the French.

Thanks. It's sometimes hard to see from inside.

Have you visited 42? I would recommend it if you haven't. I've never seen students work harder anywhere.
-
Yes. 42 is amazing. World class stuff.

With so much energy, why do you think people are still pessimistic?
-
The energy is not evenly distributed.
-
This, and the tendency to neutralize energies and successes in the name of equality, instead of using them for everyone's benefit.

Let's be frank. The welfare state is slowly strangling France's entrepreneurs and small businessmen.
-
I've created companies in France and in the US, I'm on the board of companies on both sides. It's easier to be an entrepreneur in France
-
Vraiment?! First time I've heard that. Why would you say it's easier to be an entrepreneur in France?
-
Raising a first round is easier in France, creating an engineering team is easier, costs are way lower than in California.

Maybe Paris, with suburb and villages is another story.
-
Tech out of Paris is increasingly developed. I work 100% remote from a rural part of France and know many others who do the same.
-
Tech is world on its own, problem is that a lot of people in rural areas are stuck with skills which are no longer needed.

Isn't risk-tolerance the hardest part of the problem? Feel like that's that's the feature of SV almost impossible to emulate elsewhere

Come visit, my friend, you'd be surprised :)
