I went to visit 42 this afternoon and I'm still reeling from having my model of the world readjusted. Universities had better watch out.

What stood out to you as disruptive?
-
How hard the students work, how fast they learn, and how earnest they are.
-
Very exciting. Why do you think they were that way?
-
The school is all about learning. Which is what universities ought to be, but aren't.
-
Exactly. We actually hired a batch of 8
@42born2code students and it's such a breath of fresh air, THIS is what teaching should be.

Are they also planning this online for international students?

Ditto; I was very impressed when I visited.
-
John, how can we emulate this in Ireland?
-
Do exactly the same thing. There is nothing specifically French about why it works.

Judging by who I interviewed from there they are not MIT. They don't have even the minimal theoretical CS knowledge. Happy to be wrong.
-
I don't remember a lot of automata theory myself to be honest.
-
You are not 21!
-
So what is the point to know such things that you will juste forget in 2 years ?
-
signaling, not building

Another MIT ? Without Maths ? Just focusing on immediat productivness ? It's another coder farm, it's not useless, but definitly not a MIT.
-
This is a full time 3-5 year program, not a boot camp, learning math is required esp. for graphics branch
