        That's not true. Some companies are created by other companies, others are assembled by investors.

        the parent was likely a startup at one point. Also there are hybrid cases like Tinder coming out of IAC. It’s a semantics argument.

        especially true where products cannibalize a past sale. Every EV Toyota sells = one ICE car that they didn't. Not so for Tesla.
