The reason I can't stand watching presentations or listening to pitches is that they give sequential rather than random access.

Maybe we're biased towards sequential info because of time. It would be so weird if time were random access vs sequential.
-
Presenters prefer it because it gives them something to hide behind. Audiences prefer it when they don't want to do any work.

In practice that is not a risk if you know what questions to ask.

sounds clever but is actually so arrogant to say.
-
It's arrogant to say I'd rather have a conversation than listen to a canned presentation?
-
No. saying that wouldn't have been arrogant. But that's not what you tweeted even if it's what you meant.
-
just to clarify the tweet suggests "I'm better that you hours of preparation. Don't bore me" your second reply to me is much better.
-
the second reply is like "let's dispense with these inefficient formalities and just talk". So much nicer.

you understand that this is reciprocal, right? Are you ok that people random access you? If you are ok, it's cool. Otherwise elitism

linear presentation works better for 99% of people because most do not understand value proposition at face value w/ 'random access'
-
ex. I built a data collection tool that can save anyone money - can save healthcare most money. Have to ELI5 application scenarios
-
but perhaps if I must ELI5 a VC (we are in ATL) then they do not have much to offer beyond capital

what do you mean by random access?

Q&A (he can ask a question and get the answer he wants, rather than waiting for it)
-
ah that makes sense! Thanks
