When you do that to yourself, it's admirable. When a journalist does it without saying they are, it's intellectually dishonest.
-
If your job is to cover tech and the article is factual it is not dishonest. It's journalism.
-
Tech's importance grows by the day. We should stop being so thin skinned about the attention that brings. We're not infallible.
-
Especially in a week where we all assume Zuck can be prez, and a someone spouting "Yelp for Drugs" may be put in charge of the FDA.

Much better but should be careful going forward because of some serious risks, if well approached they seem manageable

that's good, means tech industry has a higher standard and is criticised as such. No need to wait for others to catch-up to improve

Isn't this true of nearly all journalism? Our metrics shouldn't be a platonic ideal but the practical alternatives.

I've often thought about the comparison to trading floors 20 years ago. Pretty sure that was much worse and likely still is.

unnecessarily onerous? Almost if you are writing a perspective on a CEO's decisions you would have to compare them to all other CEO?

journalists only get clicks if they update people's priors, which (maybe rightfully) skew toward tech being better/different

the measure should be weighted by the level of condescension that comes from the industry.
