    It would be in the interest of good IoT cos to create a free security layer. Otherwise consumers may avoid the whole category.

        I'd be good for apple not to wall the world off with HomeKit. Google home + elgato products would be a fine fit otherwise.

        yes, see how fast AES is with an 8 bit low power chip. That's without a sane protocol implemention and the memory footprint
