1/People often ask why Stripe needs to do fraud protection, since banks are good at catching it. Which is true, from the view of a consumer.
The way our bank "catches" it is by declining our transactions whenever we travel, and cancelling our cards every year or so.

I call before any trips or big purchases because of that. (And I live overseas and they used to cancel yearly.)
