If Trump wins, I'm joining the Resistance.

Great you strongly oppose Trump, but the lack of congruence with a registered Trump delegate in your YC inner circle is deafening.
-
Do you mean YC should cut ties to Peter because of his political views? It seems to me that's the sort of thing we're fighting against.
-
Would David Duke be welcome as a YC partner if he had money to invest and a sympathetic vision for startups?
-
Before I leave this thread I should clear up a few misconceptions you have seem to have.
-
Peter is not a YC partner. He is a "part time partner," which means he does occasional office hours.
-
And it is no longer my decision who's part of YC, which is why I have to talk about this in the subjunctive.
-
If I were still running YC though, I'd be very leery of ditching people for their political views.
-
Obviously there is a line, and I'd never want David Duke, but Peter is not David Duke.

Also, you think the main problem with Trump is his "character", not his batshit ideas or racist/bigoted policy proposals?
-
His character is the source of those ideas.
-
I think we basically agree here. Can we please not waste a lot of time in a stupid Twitter fight?
-
If Trump is dangerous enough in your mind to warrant a "resistance", then your biz dealings with his delegates are surely relevant.

I take that's a no? If you're not even willing to distance yourself from Thiel, then maybe talk of "resistance" is a bit rich?
-
I disagree with Peter of course. Surely that should be clear.
-
What I mean by resistance is actively working to contain Trump if he wins.
-
who will work to contain Hillary if she wins, given that the media, Wall Street, the GOPe, & SV ex-Thiel are with her?
-
Congress I guess. You know, it's possible all those people are "with her" because she's a better candidate. ;)
-
I guess it's possible some prefer risking war with Russia over Syria and opening our borders to the 3rd world.
-
hm that's reductive. I would say some prefer stern but diplomatic approach to Russia/Syria and strong but open borders.
-
She's past diplomacy. She's argued for a no fly zone in Syria. And "strong but open" borders is meaningless.
