interesting! How would you factor in depth vs breadth of skills in this framework? I.e a really good generalist vs specialist
-

-
I mean better at the kind of work you do. How much you need to be a generalist depends on the kind of work.
-
dunno, I know lots of ppl who are great at what they do but don't have a lick of sense when it comes to business

You forgot to add: if you're childless and/or rich. I'm not rich and a dad so I can't afford the risk of starting another business.
-
Your decisions are your own, but surely you don't mean no one who isn't rich or childless should try to start a company?
-
did you see the word "should" in my tweet? I wasn't being prescriptive, I was being descriptive.
-
I started my co because I could afford to work nights and weekends, then go without income for a while. couldn't do that now.
-
This fact is too often ignored by SV types who like to say "anyone good enough can do it".
-
it's important for folks like you to acknowledge what a great privilege it is to be limited by nothing other than your ability.
-
anybody can do it- choices and sacrifices have to be made which are extremely difficult. There is never a perfect time

I know plenty of great people who are really not suited to starting their own company and plenty of mediocre ones who have

Also forgot to add if you're male and white.
-
Did Paul block you yet for saying this? Just curious.
-
No - is that a thing? I was just speaking honestly/from experience. The world isn't your oyster if you're female/POC

-
I totally agree with you. However, he's blocked me, and others, for pointing out when he ignores privilege as a factor.
-
what's privileged have to do with it? Have my own business. My customers don't even know what country I'm from.
-
Shh, nobody was talking to you.

there are some people that are so good, they want to really focus, rather than deal with a company. Linus T comes to mind
