@SkyNews These cases are nearly always from 20+ years ago, before US began using DNA in investigations. Will probably run out soon. -
not necessarily. A lot of convictions still happen based on circumstantial evidence. No NDA.
-
If the circumstancial evidence is strong, that may be fine. Otherwise they should use DNA, now that costs are low.

Given the astonishing fact that Innocence Project only takes cases with DNA proof of innocence, many.

law works well for the wealthy & powerful (HRC, Tim Cook), who therefore have little interest in reforming it, like so many things.

Given how much the incarceration rate in the US differs from the western world, I'd guess a fair bit.

Jordan Ellenberg in his excellent book "How Not To Be Wrong" touches on this topic. https://www.amazon.com/How-Not-Be-Wrong-Mathematical/dp/0143127535 …pic.twitter.com/tyNBRbB0Vh

Realistically, what ratio of innocent people convicted for murder / murderers convicted for murder do you think wld be acceptable?
-
But how could we measure that? The US approach is to follow a well-defined system - murder trials always have a jury.
-
You're right that we couldn't measure it but that doesn't make the question meaningless or pointless.
-
Agree. But at the same time, the system exists for a reason. There is no easy free lunch to be had by changing things.
