Interesting test: how strong is the inverse correlation between dislike of someone and understanding of their work?

(E.g. Darwin in his day had a lot of what we'd now call haters, but zero of them understood him or his work.)
(Whereas Joe McCarthy also had a lot of haters, but they understood him very well.)

Darwin had haters - both those who did and didn't understand his work. Those who understood, hated it for its implications.
