I'm currently using a MacBook 4,1 (2008, Core 2 Duo) running Snow Leopard w/ RAM maxed. Faster than wife's brand new Lenovo.
It used to be if you bought a new computer after 6 years, it was way faster. I miss the old Moore's Law.

All I seem to have got this time is flat icons.

My 3yr old MacBook Pro has better CPU specs than current top model. 2.8ghz i7 16GB RAM 768GB SSD.

Current MBP is dated, but definitely faster. Maxxed-out model: 2.8GHz CPU (turbo boost up to 4GHz), 1TB SSD, & 16GB RAM.

most of you do now though is not local. So a faster computer won't get you faster tubes and make the clouds they connect to faster.
