I think it was in "Let over Lambda" where D. Hoyte stated "nobody really understands Macros", which made sense to me as a beginner
-
I understand macros. But I'd agree about doubly nested backquotes.

There is no can opener to "understand". There's no chariot. There's no object you can label inc. Self. :) http://www.dhammawiki.com/index.php?title=Anatta …

aka The tweet of an essay is not the essay. The essay is the essay. Also, headline of a news is not the news. Its a (false) label.

this is why good, logic, honest, well-documented writing is so helpful –and difficult– to writers.
-
you may consider trying to explain things using SVO-pb syntax. Subject Verb Object - Present tense, no "to-be" verbs.
-
Could you give me an example and a counter example?
-
Paul's sentence is SVO-pb. Yours includes "is", which literally means "equals". So you say your subject equals your object.
-
I think I get it. "This is why good, honest writing helps –and tortures– writers so much".
-
the word "is" absolves the subject of responsibility. "It is what it is" doesnt explain how "it" happened or who made it happen

@Meaningness I've found my understanding improves when I try to explain something using simple words & relating it to an example -
