@paulg Huh. I wonder if having calculators ubiquitously available and instantaneous gets in the way of kids learning those tricks. -
@cperciva Not in our house, because practically all math is verbal. -
@paulg That might explain why learning x10 is hard: 23 -> 230 is far more obvious than "twenty three" -> "two hundred and thirty". -
@cperciva Yep. One class of tricks is essentially to print stuff out and then read it back in.
