I've managed to in the past. I even managed to write about female founders without leaving them anything to grab onto. But you never know.

@paulg if it helps, send it to a small group of trusted troll friends first and let them tear it a new one. Then rewrite add as needed. -
@honestduane I don't have troll friends. But I do send things to HN moderator Daniel Gackle, who has internalized them. -
@paulg I can troll when needed. Maybe I don't count as a friend, but I'm happy to help if needed. -
@cperciva Thanks, but the kind I worry about is the ideological/intellectually dishonest kind. -
@paulg Right, my point was that I'm good at pretending to be that.

@paulg when has it ever been about the truth? -
@codinghorror Empirically this does work. They give up if they can't find a money quote that can be misconstrued.

@paulg when's it coming out? -
@RichWilkinsonSA After New Years I think. Jessica doesn't want to risk another holiday season of being attacked. -
@paulg heavy is the head that wears the crown :(

@paulg unfortunately the backfire effect says the trolls will never be dissuaded by the truth. http://www.cjr.org/behind_the_news/the_backfire_effect.php … -
@kane I don't expect to persuade them. I just don't want to give them an opportunity to mischaracterize what I've said to the undecided.

@paulg Why does it have to be Troll-proof? All this must be incurring some creative cost and loss (or modification) of original intent. -
@KurtKumar I do worry a bit about the cycles it costs, but I can trollproof without changing my meaning.

@paulg to me that just means that it's probably going to be a great essay! -
@zach_hustles I don't think so. Controversy depends mostly on the topic. -
@paulg if trolls want to attack one of your essays, it probably means it discusses something controversial/taboo. I like essays like that.
