@paulg what about Uber v Tesla? If software and networks are eating the world, surely Uber wins?

@RichWilkinsonSA I think Uber vs Tesla would end up a stalemate. The businesses are too different. -
@paulg uber changes the Earth, Elon musk changes the paradigm of our existence

@paulg Why either or? The auto market is huge (small, big, sports, SUV, trucks, etc.) so there's room for both to disrupt. -
@beninato I don't think it is either or. There's room for more startups. -
@paulg Agreed. And haven't used the phrase "either or" in a long time. Feels goods ;)

@paulg it could depend on "who" they build cars for. Tesla could be building for consumer; Apple may see Uber network like a cell carrier. - 1 more reply

@paulg If they buy Audi from distressed VW, they'll get to millions of units faster than Tesla -
@chr1sa the last thing Apple needs is to be distracted by a legacy biz that did things the old skool way Zzzzzzz on the Audio pitch -
@danielraffel How do you suggest they spend their $220 billion of cash? -
@chr1sa continue to invest in building the future from scratch (not supporting the past) if they want to buy a car company: @TeslaMotors -
@danielraffel @TeslaMotors Yes, buying Tesla would be easier but it's a niche product. If they want to go big they need big car co mfg scale -
@chr1sa meh. that's like saying they needed to buy Nokia to enter the phone biz to go big. -
@danielraffel Have you ever been in a car factory? Hint: it's not like Foxconn -
@chr1sa only been to the Tesla factory. Looked a lot like the factories I’ve visited in Shenzhen just more robots + automation + safety!
