@EricaJoy Cars depreciate fast. A 1998 BMW 7 series is about $3k. - 1 more reply

@paulg seriously though, giant iPads with tacky UI instead of a dashboard? I sincerely hope that is not the future. -
@JaysonElliot It's true, I'm hoping they'll get over that. But other cars' displays are all far worse. -
@paulg@JaysonElliot really ? That / the UI is one of the best features (right up with don't even push a button to start) -
-
@JaysonElliot@paulg you could say the same about any such display. Perhaps I'm not easily distracted but for me it disappeared immediately. -
@smenor I agree that touchscreen displays are inappropriate for cars. I see Tesla as taking the lazy way out with their interior. -
@JaysonElliot I didn't say they're inappropriate but you would have to to be consistent. Would you prefer the hockey puck thing BMW uses?! -
@smenor true, iDrive is also a disaster. - 6 more replies

@paulg Exactly what I said at test drive. Closest analogy I could think of was iPhone 2007 -
.
@iamjakestream@paulg Exactly right! Big automakers think they are competing w/ another car. Tesla is not a car, it's computer on wheels. -
@xecretcode I would agree that it's a compute on wheels. I would submit that is its weakness, not its strength.
