If a question is a religious one for people on one side and an empirical one for people on the other, the latter are probably right.

I would say the evidence. For example: The Aposles saw Jesus alive after his death. That installed their "belief" or "faith". The Catholic Church, is Apostolic Faith, handed down for over 2000 years. Have to admit, that says something.
