The combination of passwords and credit cards with expiration dates = garbage collection for subscriptions.

I don’t know if this was part of your point but cardholder agreements now don’t require you to update the expiration date any longer. Wolfram can keep charging you if you do nothing unless you actually cancel yourself.

I’ll bet they do know but smartly trying to keep themselves in your good graces. This hidden feature of card subscriptions is understandable but still feels insidious. Yet another dark pattern I’m hopeful Stripe can assist with.
