It would be more impressive if the name construction had something more to it than adding ‘ism’ to the end of someone’s name!
In this case that was the optimal name, because the phenomenon was concentrated in one person, and a particularly unsavory person to boot.

Fair but I still wonder if some of the more creative and memorable names may have more longevity and global power - ie the MeToo movement instead of calling it ‘Weinsteinism’.
