I always think of this when people mention Apple not having focus groups. Clearly, Jobs was the customer.

This is *still* ingrained in the company's culture today. You can tell when you look at the Apple Watch's features (e.g. fall detection, or cardiac arrest detection, etc...), which also shows you they're getting older.

Confused. Do you mean Mystery Shopping to check competition? Voice of Customer for market and your own product requirements? Benchmark your customer ops and sale staff? Or, "Hey I'd use that!" to validate your MVP?
