Unclear why one would choose to work at a traditional Fortune 1000 type company these days, as opposed to a well funded growth startup - comp and job stability have become very comparable

This seems obvious. Startups aren’t for everyone and pretending they’re a universally optimal career path isn’t very smart.

A common misconception. Not true at all, except for the tiniest of startups. Plenty of big companies are really cheap when it comes to talent. Their loss.

Working with established companies gives one aura of instant credibility. And if you can use it to your advantage to create press, you are seen as an expert and then go higher. For example, Google Health have some such experts.

Startups really are great environments for challenging the status quo and assumptions about the way certain business models work. VC money does feel a bit like a cheat code at times but

Agreed. Startups aren’t fans of mediocre work ethics. You’re rewarded for being a trusted asset who can jump in & run with it. I switch roles 3 times @ my first startup to whatever they needed me to do. From Product Strategy, to Head of User Experience to Marketing Director.
