Differences between individual action and political intent is not hypocrisy, though. It is not a contradiction to e.g. support higher taxes and legally optimize your own taxes. Political action has much higher leverage, while individual action may satiate political will.
Very interesting point: Conformists conform *separately* in words and actions, and since conventional words are at odds with conventional actions, this thereby makes them hypocrites as well.https://www.econlib.org/being-normal/

Conformism removes the need to think and communicate, as both are done for you. I’ve actually seen social media posts that instruct people on what to say in a conversation, with plenty of likes and thank you’s!

This is a special case. Conventional words and actions are both internally inconsistent; conformism about either, and certainly both, leads to inconsistency.

What stood out to me was the clarity with which a weird person could describe normal people. It's like a version of the Anna Karenina principle is at play - all normal people are alike; every weird person is weird in his own way. Making such an essay even possible.

I would even call it The Paradox of Normality: “The Principle of Normality: A normal person says what others say, but does what others do.”

What puzzled me was the use of “but” instead of “and” in the definition. Why not say “A normal person says what others say, AND does what others do?” Going with “but” highlights the hypocritical element. And makes it clear it is not just conformism.
