Ah, but it didn't use node.js, angular, rust, some gubbins in python running K8s on a Google container hosted by AWS controlled by Azure and stored in GitHub. Can't have been as good.

So server-side rendering and development lead to client-side rendering and SPAs. Now, instead of going back to server-side rendering, we're going to pay for a server to render the client-side application for us?

It's a different concept. It's using the cloud to make the web experience faster - beyond the limits of your individual machine. Not sure how far that can really be taken. But if you get creative, there might be many opportunities.
