This thread is more personal than most of the things I share here, but I’m at my limit with Jason Hickel. I want to explain why I dislike him so much and how we got here. This is a personal story over several years so it’ll take a bit of time.

So my advice will sound a bit grim, but it is: 1. There is not much you can do about this. 2. Except to be prepared for even more of it in the future.

Why is Max giving Hickel more airtime? Not sure Max should engage. That's not to say don't read the critique but releasing & expanding his work is more productive than feeding the endless hunger of anthros/journos to vilify. Clicks keep them in business.

That is to say, I expect that I'd have a more successful career (in many salient ways) if I decided to do what Jason does instead of what Max does. For most this will be far more true, and for many doing what Max does will not even be an option but doing what Jason does is
