We're starting to go native. Jessica now pronounces "vaccine" with the stress on the first syllable, and I just wrote "unrealised" before correcting it.

Interesting. I wouldn't have imagined that an American would experience Europeans (and Brits') to be nice. It always feels that there is less of a layer of 'friendliness'/'politeness' in Europe vs in the US

I moved back 2 years ago after 25 years in the Bay Area. My two biggest fears were 1) that the weather would be miserable 2) that the people would be cold. The weather hasn't bothered me (and hasn't been that bad) and the people are lovely!

In all those years in California, I struck up maybe 10 conversations with strangers in pubs. Over here, I meet someone new almost every day. That's the opposite of the stereotype I had in my head.
