When asked to name their most "controversial" opinions, most name opinions where many are likely to disagree. But that just shows weak potential for controversy, not actual controversy. Your most controversial opinions are what people have actually yelled loudest at you about.
Unless you mention your most controversial opinions only to trusted friends, which I would argue is the only safe strategy for anyone sufficiently independent-minded.
