It has been overused and used for the wrong things and hence lost its meaning. Together with many other terms like “oppression”, “racist” etc

I´ve observed that my fortnite team mates also use the adjective "toxic" to refer to any unfriendly or agressive behaviour of other players...

If we want special words to have special meaning they must be so long that they discourage people from using them when a shorter word would suffice.
