Twitter is a meritocracy of ideas. But in the real world, I haven’t observed an idea meritocracy that is truly scalable, even with tools and protocols in place.
Hard to scale indeed! That said, Twitter can't be called an idea meritocracy per se. It is just an open platform for distribution, with popularity as the only heuristic. Eg: Kim Kardashian has ~70 million followers and gathers impressions from that fame.
