The dislocations are fascinating. Columbia/Harvard 1993, Cornell 2003. Those strongly suggest (a) change in admissions policy (b) collective change in the admission pool. P(a)>P(b).

It's the flatness and convergence that seem most damning. The convergence especially, because it suggests the different admissions departments actively collaborated.
