What are the best books of the history of computers? I liked The Innovators by Isaacson. Any other recommendations?

What leverage, though! Each transistor went on to switch a million times per second for years -- maybe 100 trillion times.

Each transistor *could* switch a million times per second, but I would guess that most of them *didn't*.

It's really interesting how their ICs were unique. Those square, single-size metal cans are immediately identifiable as IBM.
