Of the 20 richest self-made Americans under 60, 17 have technical backgrounds.

I’ve never read a bio of Bill Gates or Paul Allen which describe how critics their college years were, but they all talk about stuff they worked on in high school. Learning to be technically creative compounds, so the early you start the more exponential benefit later in life.

This is what I was going to ask— what did you mean by a “technical background”? A technical degree means little more than nothing. Curious what your definition and threshold for “technical” experience was.

I believe "technical Background" here refers to one having some coding skills and being generally able to work with computers. One can have and build a technical background without necessarily having a technical degree. With the aid of the Internet one can develop any skill.
