How is this a good analogy? At least one has more house with which to do something. Overly verbose writing just wastes your time and dilutes the point.
A good example (and in no way a McMansion) is Ginger Man by JP Donleavy. I believe stark simple writing was in style at the time so he went in the opposite direction and created an absolute masterpiece
It's making the points faster and in a more concise way so you can see the impact quicker without having to correlate information across multiple paragraphs. You also have to assume that if the paragraphs seem simple, people might start skimming, and thus not read all of it.
I wouldn‘t say it‘s just because it seems grander. A part of expanding prose is it allows you to play with rhythm, and that can make a text more pleasant to read.
