All over the world, kids use Replit to teach themselves to program. But many schools block Replit to prevent them. The students have started a petition to ask schools to stop. Please sign and share if you want to help them out.https://www.change.org/p/schools-of-the-world-unblock-replit-at-schools …

Gotta master Excel and Paint if you're going to be employed in the new economy.

Word formatting masterclass. I distinctly remember the valuable A-Level IT lesson about how to automatically indent the first line of each paragraph.

I remember secretly teaching myself how to program on my graphing calculator in math for similar reasons. I think the programming was the more effective exercise than the classes.

Their argument is flawed. Programming can in fact aid in learning other subjects and establish a greater understanding, much like in the 80's when textbooks had small BASIC programs that students could explore with.

This is preposterous, can't they see the people at the top didn't care about assignments . These schools must be a very tiny percentage right cuz no one in their right mind would do it ?
-
90% of the professors at my high school would probably do it... I don't understand that mentality either

I completely agree... Kids should not be learning this nonsense and should be spending their time focused on a real, serious language like Haskell.

Hey Paul, this guy makes a good argument on how to integrate CS better into school curriculum. Based on my limited understanding, much of the work to get kids using CS services like Replit is about integrating CS as a curriculum into math classes.https://www.ted.com/talks/emmanuel_schanzer_why_is_algebra_so_hard_the_answer_is_surprisingly_simple …
