Don't collect celebrity investors. It's not a predictor of success. In fact, it may be a predictor of failure, because it's a sign that founders (a) lack confidence and (b) prefer fundraising to building stuff.

I've never disagreed with advice from YC partners either, it's always resulted in improved approaches to problems. I do think it's different to what I said though. All YC partners (inc. past) give good advice. Some give excellent advice. A few give very specific rare advice.

I shouldn't have used the world 'current' in my OP. It mislead the point. I do think that what I'm saying is true though. YC founders undoubtedly have their preferred YC partners.
