Early in our relationship she joined a coed soccer team I played for. When someone on the opposing team had the ball in the penalty area, she would just take them out. They were not expecting that.

Little-known fact about Jessica: She is a natural athlete, and extremely competitive. She was a (soccer) goalkeeper in HS, and when asked how to do it well, her advice was "If you make them afraid of you, that's half the battle."

This is so, so very correct. My son was an outstanding 'keeper in HS and he made sure that everyone - opponents, teammates, coaches, refs, thought that he was psychotic. His unpredictability stopped a lot of challenges before they could even materialize.
