How do you advise YC companies to compensate employees to keep incentives aligned? Are big companies doomed to misalignment? Compensation in startups depending on IPO/sale is also problematic for employees who can't average over companies like VCs.
Beyond advising them to be generous with equity, I don't have much specific advice. Big companies may not be doomed to misalignment. Only a small percentage of the space of possibilities has been explored. But I don't know what else is in it.

Perhaps there is an an upper bound? Like how large individual organisms in nature get? Brookfield Asset Managers (BAM) actually runs different divisions as separate companies with separate stocks like BEP, BIP, BEP, BPY, BBU, etc. for focus supposedly
