That’s a great perspective. The cars should have a big Apple, Google, Baidu, Tesla, logo so we can easily identify them.

We're aware of every subtle movement and noise from our natural predators, especially when the street design doesn't protect us. Self-driving cars are orders of magnitude better than human-driven cars. BUT we need a reliable way for them to communicate their intent to us.

Part of that distrust is lack of human interaction. When approaching an intersection on bike, I put slight pressure on my brakes and get in the ready position while making eye contact with drivers. If the human is unaware (autopilot), I’d probably slow down quite a bit more.

Riding on narrow shoulders in canyons is another story. You simply trust each driver that passes you. That’s one reason why I mostly mountain bike.

I get you can ID the lidar equipped driving experiments But how can you tell a SDC Tesla? (I spent a few hours with a bunch of the Uber SDC engs. My quick take: they're stuck in the sunk costs and thinking trap of 'lidar's the answer, what's the question')

Yes, we the bike riders know already how to do self-driving! The best self-driving technology out there? Your legs combined with pedals!
