There's actually a Steve Jobs video about this. When people apparently told him that Apple is a big company and has to act like it, he rejected that idea. Apple because big because they thought like a small company.
If they start acting like a big company, they wouldn't become bigger.

Too few people understand this statement even after multiple readings. I am one of them.
