I can usually skip the first and often also the second paragraph of an article without missing out on anything. It’s become a general rule for me and I see it as a sign of bad writing, even when the rest of the article contains useful information.

Those are writers without (good) copy editors.

Bad writers don't get to the point. It usually requires clarity in one's ideas, and that takes effort. "The point" is more of a summit. FTFY
