  Short sellers are optimistic about their negative predictions coming true. A lot can can be framed as optimistic that doesn’t appear so at first glance. Or is that just me being optimistic?

  @SamHarrisOrg strikes me as pretty pessimistic. Or maybe he just complains a lot... Politicians are optimistic about their own politics and pessimistic about all others while in opposition.

  I think it is one of the reasons why the USA is generally pretty successful. It's a very optimistic country, certainly in comparison to Europe.

  Lawyering tends to be a field were pessimism is rewarded. Outside of law and other risk management functions, optimism is a better trait to have (or instinct to listen to)
