Focus, as Steve Jobs said, is about saying no. The only dangerous competitors are focused ones. Ergo there are things that even the most dangerous competitors say no to, and it would be worth thinking explicitly about what those are.

What was the reasoning behind these decisions?
Supplying office space puts founders in the position of employees, and doing later rounds takes energy away from spreading horizontally.

if just being in an office makes you an employee, you’re an employee

they're not employees clearly, and if they do well it goes mostly to them. though office space can have a psychological of making some feel like employees again (undesirabe because that can lead to less motivation potentially)

I always thought Ycombinator is in a great position to invest in later rounds (perhaps kinda like how sam altman is so successful), so surprised it doesn't invest, and anyway what does it do with all the revenue?
