I don't blink at shipping charges from B2B distributors, but for retail products with an MSRP (i.e. imperfect competition), it subjectively "feels" like seller's overhead savings from not having a store should pay for the shipping

Is it an irrational dislike of shipping charges, or a rational dislike of true price obfuscation?

This is right. Also seems like sales tax in the US feels closer to true price than an included value added tax some other countries use
