How do people following hundreds or thousands of accounts use twitter?! Do they get anything out of it? Is it even manageable to have as many followees? Or is twitter just a place where they dump stuff?

Ive unfollowed people simply because they tweet too much lol. Request *see this person less in my feed* feature

I'm up to 1,860. It's interesting, because it's still not overwhelming. Twitter does some magic so that the quality remains high. I auto-follow anyone with "AI" or "ML" in their bio. It turns out to be a cheat code for "show me the most interesting work and ideas; no drama."

The magic of the algorithm is that you will *never* feel overwhelmed if everyone you follow interests you in some way or another. I like THOUSANDS of pages on Facebook yet I love my timeline!

Isn't this great that twitter uses follower to follower (FtoF) analytics to show whom to follow. This create circle of focus just as Warren Buffett said it "circle of competence"

I'm more curious how people deal with huge numbers of followers. Notifications must be useless? Yet some of them seem to have conversations on Twitter.

Agree! In the early days of the algorithms (and klout scores, etc) there was a huge advantage/reward to tweeting often and I hated that aspect. I'd much rather follow someone who only speaks when they have something intelligent to say than someone who talks to fill a quota.
