I have seen this transformation in founders but I consider the founders that can go through multiple start ups and still be only about the cash to be broken. It should always be about serving customers. Profits are a side effect of sustainably servicing customers, not the goal.

If any founder wasn't in it for the money, they wouldn't sell the companies or they would sell them for free. I'd argue that most of them are in it for the money amongst other reasons. The key is that being in it for the money is not seen as a bad thing.
