I changed the title. Those long, complicated titles are never good. I should have learned my lesson from "The Pooled-Risk Company Management Company".

Wouldn't "building makes billionaires" be a better title? A substantial # of billionaires (especially in Europe) didn't build anything.

This essay answered a lot of questions I had about your earlier tweets. Loved this one.

I've always regretted my title "Subtle Mid-Stage Startup Pitfalls". So boring, too.

Except for British tabloid titles. They read like a poem.

What a great piece - thanks for writing it. My fav entrepreneur Elon Musk certainly is not driven by money; he wants to save/preserve mankind. But Tesla might have failed the YC interview since it was not clear back in 2008 that consumers would prefer to drive an EV over an ICE.

I gotta say, I was hassling you about the interview length and this essay was really great. Gave me a different window in to the process and I really got a lot out of it.

Fully agree with this when it comes to founder-billionaires. But most billionaires did not found startups. Arguing that billionaires are good because founder-billionaires are good is misrepresenting the source of wealth of the billionaire class.pic.twitter.com/YI90WWBldu

More. Over 40% of billionaires had some form of inheritance driving their wealth. https://www.statista.com/statistics/621426/sources-of-wealth-of-global-billionaires/ …
