It's not a coincidence that these two tweets sound so similar. The quality of traditional publications is declining simultaneously with our need for them. That kind of two-front war is hard to survive.pic.twitter.com/Do7cGzyySE

True about the pr person, anyone to keep people honest these days
[Video] record all conversations?
How do they do this?
Yes. But an even better model today is to have an editor-in-chief rather than a head of PR. Write your own code — and make your own media. Stripe Press, Twitter Moments, AirBnB Magazine are examples of what can be done with first party content developed by a tech company.https://twitter.com/balajis/status/1313644937729077249 …
Traditional PR is implicitly premised on the idea that tech companies have ceilings. That we wouldn’t do Hollywood-level movies, Harvard-level books, or first party news. But Netflix, Stripe Press, Twitter Moments show there is no ceiling. Blogging & tweeting is not the limit.
“Accurate” is a better word than “honest” here. Yes, your company should have a comms team who answers questions, it helps us get facts right. Reporting on Tesla won’t be more accurate because they stopped having one
That’s an important distinction. When I was a journalist, I never lied to a PR person, but I did make mistakes from time to time — and as a PR person, I’ve never been lied to by a journalist, but I have had to protect from mistakes from time to time. Mistakes ≠ Dishonesty
This I’ll give you. It’s very sad the role PR plays in the media. Like a broker... yuck.
