I pay extra for eggs from free-range chickens, to avoid chickens suffering in cages. If chickens could be genetically modified to be blissfully happy in cages, happier than free-range, perhaps by fiddling with dopamine genes, would you buy those instead?

every being simply wants to be fed and protected by predators. being a facility-raised chicken provides just that without even having to forage. maybe the factory raised chicken life is just one big chicken rave and we don't know it. maybe it's already a blissful existence.
