There's a paper on the topic https://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=2010183 …

@petersuber also touches upon it in "The Paradox of Self-Amendment" https://dash.harvard.edu/bitstream/handle/1/23674879/Suber%20-%20Paradox%20of%20Self-Amendment%202.pdf …pic.twitter.com/LfgHTfuoHD

Gödel’s exploration of formal systems is fascinating. I have discovered a lot about his ideas reading Hofstaedter’s Gödel, Escher, Bach.

My favorite part of this story is that Einstein is the down-to-Earth, practical one in their friendship.

In his Incompleteness theorems he states that it's impossible for a formal system to be both consistent and complete. Although strictly logical, these theorems might be used to abstractly think about the limitations of systems in the world in general. Mind games :)

Wait what, the inconsistency he spotted isn't spelled out. This Gödel profile is incomplete!

The inconsistency was that the Constitution allowed itself to be freely modified such that it could be changed to install a dictator and then no longer be open for modifications.
